This consumer electronic toy line for children eight and older required a design language that would span three unique product offerings. Fetch, a Mobot that can lift and move household objects; Mimix, a robot that can record and remix speech and Ramblez, a toy that reacts to sound with lights and preprogrammed dance patterns. When all three bots are together, other interactions occur.
I used design cues associated with “Space” related themes to create a design language to give the three bots a family look. Another design objective was for the bots to be neutral and acceptable for girls and boys. When possible, we tried to share parts to reduce costs.
