The design challenge for this project was to use existing mechanical chassis and linkages from our current toy line as a starting point for a new product. I researched other mechanical toys and types of insects from nature that might share some overlap with our popular Scarab mechanical. The scorpion provided a perfect fit. I explored ways to animate the tail and pinchers, working with our engineers to implement them. I also designed the outlook for the new tail, body, and pinchers.
